What is going on....

We have a lot of things going on this month. We had a lock-in on Friday, Oct. 17, Daniel and I were all geared up to play Rock Band, sorry that it conflicted with so many people's schedules, but Daniel and I started our own band and we Rocked the night away (at home, we decided not to stay at church all night :) ).

This weekend is the hayride at the Fox's house...it will be a great time of fun and fellowship and if any of you can help entertain the kids that would be GREAT!

On, Friday, October 31 we have our Costume Coffee House. Daniel already has his costume....I have yet to find one! There will be a competition for "best all around", "most creative", and "best look alike" costume, prizes will be awarded so make sure to dress your best! Please make sure to come and invite your friends. As I said before this will be a relaxing, non-threating setting and a great way to get your friends up to the church and see what it is like. We should have plenty of food, coffee, hot chocolate and fun!

Coming up in November is our big event for the fall Disciple Now Weekend! We need you to sign-up to let us know you are attending by November 2, with $15, this will help cover meals, t-shirt, bible study materials, etc.

Wednesday night Bible Study...Daniel has been teaching from the book of Obadiah. Come find out how this Old Testament book is relevant to YOU in 2008!

Costume Coffee House - Help Needed!

Okay I need your help. Daniel has passed around a sign-up sheet asking for help and no one signed it! Date: Friday, October 31 Time: 6pm-10pm Don't forget to start thinking of a costume....there will be a costume contest....more details on that to come.... We hope to make this a fun night for you and your friends but we could use a little help! Here are some things you can do....
  • Help with decorating
  • Help with food planning and preparing
  • Help with music
  • Help with planning activities
  • Help with advertising
  • Help gathering card tables (we need several card tables so if you have one or you know someone with one please let us know if we can borrow your tables)
  • Of course we could use all of you to help clean up afterwards!
God has gifted all of you in different areas so think about what your gifts are and choose an area to help in where you feel you are most gifted. This is a great outreach opportunity for your friends in school, where you work, your neighbors, roommates, etc. So please invite your friends and please pitch in and help make this a fun, successful event!

My how time flies.....

The days get away from me so quickly and then I realize it is Tuesday afternoon and I haven't let you know what tomorrow's Bible study topic is.... If you were there last week you know that you looked at verses from the Old and New Testament about alcohol and drinking. This week you will continue on in this study but talk more about how to apply these verses to your life. You will also talk about how to make the right choices in life and how to use the Bible as your guide for every choice you make.

I would love to know if anyone even looks at this blog! So please leave a comment when you stop by! Also, I keep forgetting to take pictures on Wednesday nights to post on here. I will try to get some this Wednesday night so you guys can see more pictures of what is going on at the Edge!

THIS WEDNESDAY!

This coming Wednesday night we are talking about God's Covenants with Men. This should be an interesting discussion that you won't want to miss! Each topic discussed on Wednesday nights is a question submitted by one of the students. Each Wednesday a new question is drawn from the question box and that is what Daniel bases his lessons on. Each Wednesday Amber has also been planning a time of worship. Please thank her for her efforts in coordinating this. This week we need to discuss some fellowship ideas for the month of September...so come with your ideas!

Road Trip, Day 2 and 3

Saturday morning we woke up early and headed to Six Flags. We had a great time and the best part was the lines for the rides were relatively short! During the afternoon we had a thunderstorm pass through and everything shut down for about an hour, but after that even shorter lines! We didn't take many pictures because no one wanted to mess with a camera all day on the rides. Saturday night we went to a mall for a brief time and then Daniel gave us each a Bible study sheet about two Road Trips in the Bible. The first was the Road to Emmaus where Jesus revealed himself to two disciples (Luke 24:13-35). We were asked to pray that God would bring the Word of Christ alive even more in our hearts. The second sheet was about the Road to Damascus, where God came to Paul and called him to be the messenger to the Gentiles (Acts 9:1-25). Our prayer was for boldness to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. On Sunday we woke up bright and early and headed to Windsor Crossing Community church. We had an awesome time of worship there. The pastor was out of town so most of the service was music. This is a non-traditional church, we all wore our t-shirts and shorts, they had a band that led the music. We had a time of communion and a man with cerebral palsy gave his testimony. The whole service was excellent and we were all glad to have that worship experience. To see all the pictures from this trip click here.

Road Trip - St. Louis, Day 1

We had a great time on our Road Trip. The first day we headed out to St. Louis. We stopped for dinner and we were delayed a bit by tornado sirens. We made some calls to see about the weather and stayed put for awhile until the bad weather passed over, then back in the van to continue our trip. When we arrived in St. Louis we went to the City Museum. Everyone had a great time! It is basically a huge playground/jungle gym for adults! You climb through tube, go through tunnels, climb up to an airplane that is suspended over the parking lot, very cool, just don't look down! We ended the night with a trip to Wal-mart, you would think it was the highlight of the trip as excited as everyone was that we were going! Then we headed out to our host homes.
